Designer DETAIL - CABLE MELBOURNE

Never underestimate the power of the luxury knit.

Showcasing at last month’s Trans-seasonal Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, Melbourne born knitwear label CABLE MELBOURNE is progressing in leaps and bounds.

For sophisticated women who aren’t concerned with fashion fads and prefer classic styling, the CABLE MELBOURNE collections are both modern and timeless, and can be worn throughout all seasons and for all occasions.

“Pitched at the premium womenswear market, CABLE knits are investment pieces,” says Head Designer Georgina Sutton, “created to be flattering, comfortable and effortlessly stylish. I want to make dressing easy and uncomplicated.”

Offering irresistible fully-fashioned essentials including a range of feminine tops with bow detailing, tailored vests, ribbed pencil skirts, relaxed long cardigans, smock dresses and a heavier double-breasted coat, CABLE compliments any wardrobe time and time again.

Who is behind CABLE MELBOURNE?

After completing a degree in Graphic Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Georgina Sutton worked at Country Road, designing Apparel, Graphics and Textiles. Changing ships, Georgina was appointed as Head Designer at Nicholson and established the direction for the new Melbourne based label. Discovering her strength lay in knitwear, Georgina went out on her own to start her current exclusive knitwear label ‘CABLE MELBOURNE’.

“CABLE was born in 2006 after I recognised a gap in the market for cleverly designed, functional pieces that portrayed effortless style and were of the highest quality,” Georgina says.

Going above and beyond

Georgina strives to ensure her label stands head and shoulders above the rest in design, quality and wearability. “Every CABLE piece should be considered a luxurious collectable, one that will compliment a women’s wardrobe time and time again,” Georgina says.

“Cable is aimed towards sophisticated women who aren’t concerned with fashion fads and prefer pure styling, attention to detail and beautifully made knitwear.”

Down to business

Summer at CABLE turned a focus on the understated and the sophisticated. Featuring fine bamboo yarn in corals, grey and ivory, as well as bold highlight pieces including the Milano-stitched electric blue cropped jacket and washed red trench, the summer collection showcases classic silhouettes that are both modern and versatile.

“For winter, highlight pieces include the CABLE signature long wrap cardigan, summer tank dress, high-waisted pencil skirts and must-have double breasted trench coats,” Georgina says.

The Cable Melbourne Autumn/Winter 2008 Collection will be available in March from around 35 leading independent boutiques nationally, including Cactus Jam (VIC), Husk (VIC), Eco D (VIC, SA, NSW) and Filly and Mare (VIC). For stockists’ details call 03 9527 4528 or visit www.cablemelbourne.com
