There is nothing better than a collection of clothing that is different and distinctive, while being appealing and attractive. That's exactly what you can expect from label LIFEwithBIRD. Unique styling, modernity and personality make this label stand out from all others. Described as 'radically contemporary,' and demonstrating 'intellectual design,' the Melbourne based label created by Bridget McCall and Nicholas Van Messner comes from a combination of various skills and experiences, making the label such an original collaboration.

About a Bird

The 'Bird,' Bridget McCall, is an accomplished photographer and fashion stylist who pursued her interests in London, where she collaborated on magazine shoots for 'The Face' and 'ID' magazines. Bridget then returned to Australia, working as an agent for the Jade Jagger accessory range. Fashion runs through the family, with Bridget's mother an accomplished fashion designer who made clothes for rock celebrities in the 60's (including The Beatles) and her sister is now well known for forging a name for herself with her self titled label Alice McCall. With fashion in her blood, launching her own label was a natural step.

About a Boy.

Nicholas Van Messner studied fashion design at RMIT in Melbourne. While studying he began work with the street couture label, Maiike, as their creative director. After graduation Nicholas became heavily involved in Maiike's expansion into Japan, creating a unique cult like following. He was also instrumental in the menswear buying for the Husk Lifestyle boutiques.

LIFEwithBIRD burst onto the scene with a collection of unique leather bags, which has now grown into mens and womenswear lines and a jewelery line. The latest collection, no.8 and titled 'Simple Futures,' has pushed the label to a new level, with radical prints and design that are interwoven with their 'beauty of function' philosophy.

The new definition of dressing

Simple Futures no.8 came from "a world of microchips, manipulated graphics and an evolutionary path into the landscape of tomorrow." Creating a balance between structured tailoring and free form drapery, LIFEwithBIRD explores function and provides a new definition for how to dress. This is the world of high casual, where beauty clashes with the practicality of the street, and anything goes.

The jackets and tees are elongated, trousers are stretch tailored, and the trench has been raised into a high-waisted killer piece. LIFEwithBIRD's minimalist style remains, whilst "maximalism" is employed through graphic overlays of print and colour.

The accessories continue to evolve and impress with limited edition handmade bags, shoes and jewellery. Vivid silver and intricately carved wood is combined to create a capsule collection of necklaces, bracelets and brooches. .
