“Young, confident and quirky.” Designer Irena Geller can describe the nature of her label’s devotees with these three short words. And with just a quick peek at the Lucky 13 designs you can easily discover why; it’s these flirty, fun and fabulous outfits, vintage inspired designs and sexy styles with a twist that have these confident and quirky gals coming back for more.

Born in the 90’s, Lucky 13 was the brainchild of Irena Geller, who set out to launch a dynamic label that represented strong femininity and timeless style, but with an edge that set her designs apart from all others. “We definitely produce something with a bit of punch and I think that makes us very different,” Irena says.

Getting Lucky

Irena’s love for all things design began with an offer to design men’s shirts while she completed her schooling. “I dabbled in menswear firstly, taught myself to use a sewing machine that took over my bedroom! Eventually I rented a factory space in Surry Hills back in the 90's and dying to get into women's wear, Lucky 13 was born,” Irena says.

From these foundations, Lucky 13 has grown into an easily identifiable brand with classic and wearable pieces to suit and compliment any women’s wardrobe.

“The Lucky 13 woman is confident and modern, she has the ability and courage to wear something different, unique, and appreciates a quality garment that fits in the right places,” Irena says. “We are always vintage inspired, constantly scrounging some great vintage stores and picking up styles and then adding our own inspirations, drawing our own conclusions and trying to bring some edgy styles to the market place,” she finishes.

In honour of the party season, Lucky 13 has unveiled a handful of fun flirty frocks, playful prints and a few well-placed sparkles perfect for those cocktail parties.

“My favourite items would have to be the shorts, its good to have some styling in shorts and chambray shorts are so cute too. Mind you, if I had to pick an absolute most favourite, it would have to be the Barbarella Maxi Dress,” Irena says.

Waiting in the wings

Irena has big plans for her Lucky label, preparing for a very stylish winter with a 20’s twist.

“Well, we've got some pretty cool styles for Winter next year, a lot of themes from the 20’s, I love the 20’s era so I’m really excited about seeing it all in store,” Irena says.

And as for choosing the name ‘Lucky 13’? “I think I saw it on this gorgeous guy’s tattoo when I first went overseas, how could I resist?”
