Designer DETAIL

Natasha Gan's Subway range is just the ticket for a sophisticated winter

Natasha Gan discovered her love for the design of beautiful clothes at a very young age, spending her weekends rummaging through the fabrics and trims from her mother's dressmaking business and dreaming up the ideas for her own creations.

At the tender age 13, she had already enrolled in TAFE studying patternmaking. Showing flair and talent for designing and production, she entered fashion design studies at East Sydney Technical College, where she honed her skills even further and put her in depth knowledge of the business into practice.

The Topshop experience

London called at the age of 21 - Natasha searched for the experience and inspiration that couldn't be found anywhere else. Work for several small fashion houses led to positions designing for fashion power-houses H&M and Topshop - two of the most well regarded and high-profile, high-fashion retailers in the UK.

A label to call her own

Launching her self-titled label in 2003, Natasha focused on creating a progressive, strong and sexy collection of beautifully constructed pieces. The quality finishes and her dedication to detail are key features of the label, and Natasha ensures that every piece in the six capsule collections she produces each year reflect her very high standards.

What will we be wearing this winter?

Natasha's collection for Autumn Winter 2007 'The Subway' draws a focus on unique detailing, beautiful tailoring and voluminous draping, produced with quality Italian fabrics.

Inspired by the urban landscape of the subway, this range reflects the diversity of those who travel in the gritty, underbelly of a city. Chic business-women, fashion forward industry types and the woman in search of perfectly-fitted basics in muted shades, will all find something appealing in this range.

In a departure from past collections, Natasha has created a capsule of stand-out pieces to compliment and match back with the more wearable separates in the range. Our favourite pieces from the collection include an enchanting full-length gown and the range of shimmering, voluminous tops and jackets made in slinky fabrics with lace and velvet trims. These are designed to team with wide leg, high waited trousers, leggings or super-skinny jeans.

You won't find "Made in China" on this label

Dedicated to supporting the Australian fashion industry - from design, to pattern-making, to embroidering and finishing - each Natasha Gan garment is entirely Australian made.

The Natasha Gan Collection is stocked in 16 Myer stores and more than 30 independent boutiques across Australia.
