Clever girls Olivia Twitchett and Claire Tonge have hit on something big - filling the gap in the Aussie market for beautiful and unique high quality knitwear. Introducing us to their all-new knitwear label Twitchett and Tonge this season, the girls are keen to target the fashion conscious woman who values original design, different decorative elements, while ensuring practicality and warmth. Sounds like a sure thing to us!

Who are Twitchett and Tonge?

Olivia and Claire met while completing their fashion studies at RMIT, after which they parted ways to fill positions in fashion wholesale companies. After recognising the high end knitwear gap in the market, Olivia and Claire began their design collaboration in 2006, offering boutiques and retailers niche knitwear garments that were fresh and original.

Debut Collection

Olivia and Claire's divine debut Autumn/Winter 07 collection, 'A Nordic Fairytale' is reminiscent of the Scandinavian landscape - think "snowcapped mountains, rushing streams, jagged rocks and tumbling valleys - the elements of nature that unleash the power of emotion within the wearer."

Chocolate palette, honeycomb knits

The focus is on a natural colour palette, including Chocolate Mink, Earthen Blonde, highlights of Black Forest and gold metallic yarn. Staple tones of Cool Wolf Grey, Snow and black finish the winter palette.

This collection is to die for - we love the graphic elements, which are adorned by luscious honeycomb knits, tuck-stitch effects and jacquard patterns. The inspired designs enhance the expressive power of the collection story, while delicate embroidery and crochet trims make these garments a delight to feel and touch.

How to wear it

The jumpers and cardigans feature twist cables, wrap fronts, and shawl collared necklines that make that all important transition from day to night. Modern dresses are made memorable with interesting graphics teamed with chunky belts.

Olivia and Claire have designed each of these pieces with care, to satisfy every woman in search of heavenly knitwear. This collection only makes use of the highest quality fibers including cashmere, angora, silk, nylon, luscious lambswool and mercerised merino.
