You may still be looking out to sea, catching the last days of surf and sand but behold! Autumn is soon upon us!

In preparation, we’ve compiled this sneak preview of the hottest trends for the coldest months. We thought Spring/Summer at Myer was pretty well curated, but for winter, we've got word the buying team have chosen only the hottest pieces from your favourite designers including sass & bide, Nicola Finetti, Maticevski, Aurelio Costarella, Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester, Wayne by Wayne Cooper, Hi There from Karen Walker, NF by Nicola Finetti. You’ll find some reinterpretations of classics, plus some new looks to rock your winter world. All designer items featured here will be stocked at Myer from February 2013.

1) Embellishment
This look could basically be described as built-in jewellery. Adding sparkle, reflecting light, this is more subtle and sophisticated than mere bling. Find bejewelled wrists, necklines, lapels and metallic edging - luxuriant and ornate. Slip on one of these pieces and you’re done, ready for whatever glamorous event should come your way. Rocking this trend this season are sass & bide, Jayson Brunsdon, Aurelio Costarella, Cooper Street and Charlie Brown.

2) Winter Florals
Florals were huge over Spring/Summer mostly in pastels and small, busy prints. This season wear the deconstructed floral, with botanical motifs used more sparingly, spread out over dark neutrals. These florals are edgy - there’s nothing Nanna about this look! Look out for big winter florals by Cue, Nicola Finetti, YB J'aime and Wayne by Wayne Cooper.

3) Lace
This enduring classic makes a big impact this Autumn/Winter. There is a new sophistication to this season’s take on this trend: from all over lace to delicate lace inserts; geometrics to mixed lace patterns in one outfit. This uber feminine and sexy look is adaptable for daywear (for example lace tops) as well as the more usual evening-wear. For lace styles made modern, look out for TL Wood, Fleur Wood, Hi There from Karen Walker, Charlie Brown and Manning Cartell.

4) Leather
Remember when leather was just for jackets? New super-soft leathers can now be lovingly fashioned into tops, pants, skirts and dresses. It can be both structured and supple, formfitting and loose. This rocking look covers all the bases this Autmn/Winter. Find leather and leather look at Magdalena Velevska, Morrison, Wayne Cooper, Arthur Galan and NF by Nicola Finetti.

5) The Peplum
This cut is a waist enhancing miracle! Get instant curves with with peplum tops and jackets which will be seen in lace, leather, florals as well as plain fabrics. Add some “kapow” to a structured silhouette with a gently a flaring peplum from the waist band of  skirts and dresses. Find the look at Maticevski, Manning Cartell and Cue.

6) The Skinny Pant
These slim-line pants have been around for a while now,  probably because they are universally flattering when worn with the right tops or jackets. This Autumn/Winter we move away from the bright candy coloured skinnies to a range of metallics, textures, patterns and prints. Loving the skinnies from Karen Walker, Bul, Kate Sylvester and Jayson Brunsdon Black.

Well, we hope you enjoyed that. And that you're looking forward to Autumn/Winter as much as we are, summer is so over-rated. :-)
