There's no fashion event quite like the Costume Institute's Met Gala. This year's theme 'Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology' has seen the who's-who in fashion decked out in anything from shiny, futuristic mini dresses, to gowns with modern cuts.

As ususal, there have been some hits and misses. I was starting to feel a bit disappointed as the red carpet kicked off - all the gowns I was seeing were simple and there was nothing to catch the eye. But as the night went on, the gowns got better and better.

The Best 

While Katy Perry's makeup was a little questionable, her gown was nothing short of fabulous - hers was the first really elaborate gown that I saw, so it immediately stuck with me. Solange Knowles gets my best dressed of the night - her stunning yellow mini dress is second to none. Coming in at a close second is her sister, Beyonce. 

Kate Hudson's gowns is another of my absolute favourites. If Solange won the 'mini dress' category for me, Kate won the 'gown'. I love that Blake Lively stuck to her personal style, but still embrace the theme. 

The Bad 

I was so excited to see what SJP would be wearing and I was so disappointed. In saying that, her outfit grew on me (mostly because of those amazing shoes) but I couldn't get past her makeup - she looked washed out.. Maybe a bright lippy was in order? Taylor Swift was also disappointing and I don't know what the go is with that shiny jumpsuit - maybe if it fit her a little better it could have had a chance of working. 

The Crazy

You can always trust Madonna, Lady Gaga and Nikki Minage to wear something on the crazy side and this year they didn't disappoint. Nikki definitely could have covered up the girls a little more but I'm not going to lie, I thought that these women rocked it!
