It has been seen strutting its stuff on the S/S12 catwalks, popping up in the most stylish of magazines, and has adorned the torsos of celebrity fashionistas worldwide. It can be bold with bright splashes of colourful flowers, intricate and delicately patterned, monochromatic, simple and subtle, or out there and crazy! It's spring's hottest new flower power 'it' piece, …the floral blazer!
One stylish celeb who knows how to work the floral jacket trend is Jessica Alba, seen here wearing Stylestalker's Fight Club Blazer. Jessica makes her jacket a statement piece by playing down the top half of her outfit with a plain white singlet while she amps up the look with striking blue jeans.
So the question is..do YOU want to look this good when rocking the floral blazer trend? Here are some tips:
When choosing what to wear under your flower adorned jacket, opt for singlets, t-shirts and blouses in neutral colours and shades such as white, black, grey, navy and beige.
If that sounds a little oh-so-boring and you want to add a pop of brightness, pick a colour from the floral pattern and work a top or bottoms a la Alba style, in the same shade, keeping in mind, the point of wearing the floral blazer is to make it the stand out piece of your ensemble.
If your blazer is understated and a monochromatic colour palate, then definitely don't be afraid to add some shocks of colour via tops, bottoms and accessories.
When it comes to pairing your bottom half with a floral jacket, anything goes.
Dress up a longer blazer for a night out with a black sequined mini-skirt or lacy shorts and ankle boots.
Keep it chic and casual and wear a cropped floral jacket with light denim skinny jeans and pair with converse kicks or some cute wedges.
Or better yet, dress up a simple black or white dress with a standout floral blazer, match it with some awesome heels and you'll be ready to rock!
