With her statement-making accessories, chic colour combinations, penchant for masculine tailoring and impeccable eyeliner, you can’t blame us for style-stalking this lady.
Any street style follower will be familiar with Gary Pepper’s Nicole Warne. Hailing from Sydney, she’s a front-row regular in New York, Milan, London and Paris and is planning her permanent move to the Big Apple later this year.
Since launching her blog in 2009, Nicole Warne has collaborated with big-name labels including Louis Vuitton, Lancome, Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and Mulberry, just to name a few.
We’ve had the pleasure of watching her style evolve over the years. Nicole has gone from piecing together flea market finds and vintage treasures to honing in on a more polished and poised look, combining high-street items with covetable designer threads to suit the location she’s shooting in – Paris calls for floor-grazing gowns fit for the opera, while Cinque Terre is all about crop tops and colour blocking.
Living a seemingly dream-like existence, travelling the world and rubbing shoulders with the A-listers, she’s got to where she is due to hard work and passion. With 850,000 followers on Instagram and 35,000 website clicks a day, she’s a woman of influence in every sense of the word. Here are a few style lessons we’ve learnt from her over the years.
LESSON 1: When it comes to timeless elegance, you can’t go past a two-piece suit. Nicole gives the masculine look a fashion-forward edge by incorporating jolts of bold colour.
LESSON 2: Like Nicole, who plans every outfit to correspond with the location she’s shooting in (be it Paris or Harajuku in Tokyo), draw inspiration from new experiences, the people you meet, and the places you see.
LESSON 3: Combine high- and low-end pieces. You’ll never find Nicole decked out in top to toe designer. The blogging beauty is a frequenter of Asos, Shopbop and Etsy. Don’t think you need to spend big to look expensive.
LESSON 4: Know your style, invest in select pieces you love and you won’t need a jam-packed wardrobe. Can you believe Nicole only travels with 20kg every time she goes to Europe for three months? Her go-to staples include Charlotte Olympia heels, J Brand jeans and colourful coats. As Nicole says, “Quality over quantity. By investing in classic timeless pieces, you are in fact investing in yourself.” [Source]
LESSON 5: A bright red lip and impeccably applied eyeliner will take any look to the next level. Nicole's eyeliner of choice? Sephora!
