The Met Gala is one of the biggest annual events in fashion, where celebrities stop at nothing to be the best dressed on the night.

The 'prize' they're all waiting for is the chance to be featured on Vogue's annual Special Edition Met Gala Issue, which is released in the aftermath of the event.

The competition was tight at this year's event, with celebrities throwing away all inhibitions in order to be noticed on the night - we saw a near-naked beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker in an enormous head dress and lots of skin!

It comes as no surprise thought that Rihanna, who they had to clear the red carpet to make way for, was the one that caught the eye of Vogue and is to be featured on the cover of the edition.

The star announced it on Instagram overnight, saying "WOW, I am very honoured to have this image selected for the new cover of Vogue Magazine."

She was wearing a Chinese couture gown made by designer Guo Pei. It is rumoured to have taken 50,000 hours to create the magnificent cape.
