Nina and Esther have over 15 years of fashion and branding experience behind them, and know the value of a classic t-shirt: stylish, versatile and a wardrobe staple. But it has to be a good one. Made from soft, fine fabric; well cut and one that won’t lose it’s shape in the wash; and ideally made from organic cotton.

This type of designer t-shirt however, usually costs upward of $150, making it unaffordable for many people.

So Nina and Esther put their heads together and came up with an idea: PERSON.

PERSON is their fledgling fashion brand that specialises in organic t-shirts only, for women and men.

They are tailored to flatter the body and are made from certified organic Pima cotton - a fabric that is manufactured ethically and without causing damage to the environment. The Pima cotton is premium grade, is softer and stronger than other cottons and longer lasting. Nina and Esther aim to sell the t-shirts wholesale, starting at $55 rather than at retail prices so they are more readily available to a wider audience.  Additionally, they are made in Sydney, keeping it local.

The thing is, it takes a lot of backing to get an enterprise like this off the ground. That’s why Nina and Esther have set up a Kickstarter campaign to raise the $25K they need  to move forward with production. If they reach this target, it will enable them to offer their t-shirts at wholesale prices.

Kickstarter is a crowd funding platform that is well known in the US, but has only become available in Australia this month. PERSON is one of the first projects to get Kickstarter approval.

When you back a project on Kickstarter, you are getting access to the first run or a limited edition of a product at a reduced price. It might cost more in the future. The wholesale price is a win for both customer and designer. If they don't reach their funding target, then they don't go ahead, no one pays anything and there's no loss on either side.
