Yes, shopping for jeans that fit perfectly can be a pain in the butt, so here are a few words of advice when venturing out to the shops …
Avoid low-cut styles
Go for mid-cut styles instead. They will sculpt the upper hip and stomach to give you a beautiful hourglass shape. Even better, a higher cut will stop your body from getting cut in half, creating a long, lean silhouette.
Accentuate your curvy frame
You can do this by opting for jeans with a bit of stretch. If you ever suffer from sagging waistbands, gaping rears or drooping hems, jeans with even a slight percentage of Lycra-stretch will ensure they maintain their snug fit.
Don’t necessarily go bootcut
Though it can often feel like these are the only plus-size styles available, don’t settle for bootcut. If you’re petite, straight-legged styles (which are wider than a circulation-cutting skinny leg but more relaxed and not as flared as bootcut) work to elongate the leg. If you’re taller, try wearing a wide-legged cut, which rounds out your rear.
Boyfriend jeans aren’t just made for skinny girls
The relaxed fit suits plus-size women, outlining your shape without hugging your hips. Add a blazer and heels for a no-fail office combo.
Chambray shirts and denim jackets are universally flattering
Here’s an idea – tie your chambray shirt around your waist for brunch, pair with a knit for the office, and throw your jean jacket over an easy floral dress and pair of plimsolls for a lazy weekend outfit.
