While picking the perfect ensemble to wear to a wedding can be a stressful at the best of times, this seemingly simple task is even tricker during spring – the most popular time of year for loved-up couples to get hitched. Why? Because as chances are high that you’ll be seeing more than one couple walk down the aisle before the season is over, which means you have to find not one but several stylish wedding outfits to wear. After all, you don’t want to be caught out wearing the same ensemble to every event, do you?
To celebrate the start of the spring wedding season, we’ve pulled together six different looks to help you get a jump on building your wedding-guest wardrobe for the whole season. We’re totally happy for you to look to these outfits purely for inspiration or snap up the exact ensembles shown below – though if you do, just check in with us before each wedding in case we’re invited to the same soiree and accidentally end up wearing the same outfit as you!
1. Fun and fresh
Winter is well and truly over, so it’s time to swap those heavy tones for fresh, lively hues like rosy pink and yellow. We love pairing these two particular tones together – notice how the pops of yellow on the quirky book-inspired clutch punctuate this wedding-guest outfit. If you’re not a fan of this colour combo, try pink and emerald or cobalt blue and yellow, which both work a treat together. Promise!

2. Love lace
When it comes to wedding-appropriate attire, you can’t go wrong with a lovely lace dress. Steer clear of frocks in white, cream and light neutrals that could be mistaken for a bridesmaids’ dress, and stick with lacy numbers in classic hues like red or navy, or on-trend colours (like this striking yellow one) instead. If your dress is bright in colour but somewhat conservative in style, accessorise the outfit with statement-making accessories and footwear to give the ensemble a fun, modern edge.

3. Pastels with punch
Although pastels are often associated with all things cute and girly, they can take on a grown-up look too, as you can see here. A modern, figure-hugging silhouette and bold abstract pattern ensures this sophisticated sorbet-toned number looks anything but childish. We’ve paired it with some bling to add a touch of glamour, as well as bright heels and a monochrome animal-print clutch for an extra splash of style and to tie the chic spring wedding look together.

4. Accent accessories
Want to accessorise a feminine floral dress with diamonds and pearls, but don’t want your spring wedding ensemble to look too pretty? Rather than layering your outfit with a strand of classic white pearls and diamond studs, opt for a bejewelled ear cuff and a double (or triple) finger ring instead. They make this charming floral frock look très elegant but a little bit edgy, too.

Zimmermann Backbeat Rose Plunge Dress, $595; Tony Bianco Orange Kid Suede Heels, $179.95; Santi Imitation Pearl Clutch from Shopbop, USD$218; Amber Sceats Skyfall Ear Cuff, $119; Forever New Chloe Bauble Open Ring, $19.99.
5. Lighten up
If you’re not a fan of eye-popping brights or pastels, stick with outfits in rich ‘wintery’ hues (think navy or jewel tones like purple), but add accessories that cut through the heavy tones and lighten the look. Here, gleaming gold heels and a bejewelled acrylic bracelet do just that.

Alannah Hill Pushing My Luck Frock, $329; ZU Cavalier Evening Heels in Gold, $120; Giorgio Armani Dublino Satin Pochette With Chain from David Jones, $1429; Swarovski Buzz Clip Earrings, $505; Forever New Zena Perspex Bracelet, $34.99.
6. Just add bling
If you’ve found a frock (or even chic separates) that you love but worried it’s not formal enough to wear to a wedding, dress it up with embellished accessories and footwear. We can easily imagine this lilac silk dress being teamed with a blazer and pumps for the office or a denim jacket and white sandals for Sunday brunch with the girls, but throw some sparkling gems and strappy stilettos into the mix, and it’s instantly transformed into a cocktail dress that’s feminine, elegant and fit to wear to any wedding!
