As if the label wasn’t our go-to already, Cheap Monday have given us yet another reason to love their denim.

The label has taken the first step towards sustainability, with their next collection, dropping this July, featuring jeans for the planet – a sustainable range of denim, created using eco-friendly fabrics and finishing processes.

“Conventionally grown cotton has a number of devastating implications for the environment, damaging soil and wasting vast amounts of water, in turn contributing to the destruction of large-scale ecosystems,” a spokesperson for the label said.

“Cheap Monday feel this isn’t good enough and as a progressive denim brand has made dramatic changes, replacing all its cotton with organic and recycled alternatives."

Organic cotton uses 71% less water, 62% less energy and can be grown without any use of pesticides or GMO, which is a huge win for the environment.

But, as the new women’s collection is only 52% organic, the brand agrees that it still has a long way to go - a drive for change has taken place to intensify the use of recycled polyester, recycled wool and Tencel across apparel categories.

Cheap Monday hopes to be able to call the label 100% sustainable by July 2018.
