So, you’ve packed your winter wardrobe away and pulled out all of your warm weather gear – you know, those well-worn denim shorts, flirty skirts, filmy blouses, summery sandals and so on. But now that you’ve had a good look at your closet, you realise there’s one section that could do with a bit of sprucing up: your rack of springtime dresses.
Sure, those frocks from a few seasons ago are fine, but there’s nothing like reviving your wardrobe with a few bang-on-trend finds that you’ll have on regular rotation for the whole of spring – and summer, too.
Are you a mini or maxi girl? Or do you fit somewhere in the middle? While thigh-high and floor-skimming hemlines make their usual appearance this spring, we must admit that we’re crushing on demure mid-length dresses at the moment. Why do we love them? Because they’re ladylike, chic and sophisticated, but exude a touch of sexiness, too. A tip for those who want to try this trend: though your hem might be long, your heels should be high (otherwise you may look shorter...and stumpier, too!).
This season, we finally say goodbye to those drab winter tones, and hello to sun-kissed shades like sunny yellows and vivid orange, as well as a palette of dreamy sorbet tones. Royal blue, greens and pinks are also oh-so-hot for spring and summer, while monochrome continues to be a favourite with fashion faithfuls.
Likewise, prints and patterns have also taken on a lighter look for the warmer months ahead. Be prepared to see lots of florals – from delicate flowers to exotic blooms – whimsical watercolour-esque prints, ethnic-inspired motifs, striking geometric designs and classic patterns like checks, stripes and polka-dots.
Are you known for your attention to detail? Well, that’s just another reason why you’ll appreciate the latest drop of spring dresses. Ruffles, volume, draping, cut-outs, bows, splits and sheer panels are just some of the finer features that designers are playing with this season.
Want to know which spring dresses we’re currently coveting? Well, we’ll share them with you on one condition: that you leave some of these swoon-worthy designs on the racks for us!
