It's so cold outside at the moment, so I have been scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest for cool weather outfit inspiration and one thing that I keep seeing a lot of is belted cardigans.
When I am out on the street, it's rare that I will see anyone walking around in a cardigan with a belt around their waist, but it's all over social media... If it's good enough for the 'fashion pack' and our favourite bloggers, why aren't we all doing it?
I think belting a cardigan can feel a bit too "fashion", a bit too "trendy" but in addition to looking totally chic, it has some other benefits as well!
For starters, belting your cardi is a great way to keep the heat in, which is something that I have really been struggling with lately! By tying or buckling a belt at the waist, you're keeping your cardi closed and your body protected from the wind. I often find cardigans to be a bad choice on breezy days, but this is the perfect solution.
A chunky cardigan also has the not-so-benefit of making you look double your actual size, and eliminates any shape that you might have. By throwing a belt around, you immediately accentuate your waist and give the illusion of a gorgeous shape - perfect for ladies who are column or apple shaped!
Belts made a huge comeback last season, so this trend gives you the chance to show off your hardware!
Finally, belting your chunky knit can take you from day-to-night in a flash, especially if your belt has some metallic detailing. It's a great way to dress up an outfit if you don't want to compromise on your warmth!
Give this chic trend a try and let me know how you go on Facebook or Instagram!
