Every year, the British Fashion Council puts out a list of ‘Next Generation’ designers sponsored by UK fashion Mecca TopShop (is there any style pie they don’t have their finger in?). Here are some of the New Gen picks showing at September’s London Fashion Week, pay attention – they’ll be dressing us in the future.

Marios Schwab. Schwab is one designer who can’t put a foot wrong. He’s already designed a women’s collection for Kim Jones, a line for TopShop and has fans like Hilary Duff and Kylie Minogue fighting over his creations. Likes: bra topped dresses. Dislikes: layers.

Osman Yousefzada. A former investment banker turned fashion designer (we kid you not) Osman creates pieces that would send the office into a frenzy. Think monochrome, pantaloons and slim black dresses.

Gareth Pugh. Pugh likes black. And skinny. He alone could be credited with starting the black skinny-jean revival. But he also plays with perspex, latex and has the neo-gothic thing down pat.

Jojo & Malou. There’s no room to be glum in j&m’s happy pants (literally), baku dresses and candy-striped leggings. These two Swedes are the princesses of print.

Hasam El Odeh. Intertwine 19th century England with poetry and pearls and you come close to nailing jeweller Husam’s style.

New Gen Brits beware, Australia is not shy of young design talent. Who would you line up as Aussie New Gen? Let Tragic know and score a double movie pass.
