My name is Alicia and I am an addict. No, it’s not time to reveal I’m going through a bit of a Li Lo experience of my own and have joined the white water rafters of Utah. Rather, I’ve just started to consider my spring wardrobe.
Blue jeans – check, sundresses – check, sandals galore – check and oh, what’s this? Hanger after hanger of white cotton tops.
With my closet in an annoying state of disarray at the moment, it was only when I came home from an impromptu shopping trip with a dear little white cotton sleeveless shirt to hang up that I realised I already have several almost identical dear Little White Tops (LWT).
Yes, if there’s a floaty white shell top with a hint of broiderie anglaise or a little frill around the armholes, I own it. If it has cute pockets, a tie back or subtle self-stripe detail I probably own it as well. Heck, if it’s in any way girlie, white, so soft it’s slightly sheer and looks great over a tank with a pair of dark denim jeans, it’s most likely hanging in my (embarrassingly cluttered right now) wardrobe.
Finding such LWTs used to be a challenge. They were either too starchy, too mumsy or just plain wrong. Now it seems every designer and chain has seen the light and decided they are essential for the warmer months. French Connection, Witchery, Fleur Wood, Wish, Review, Sportsgirl and Dotti are just some of the brands I’ve found to feed my addiction. And there are plenty more besides. Just let me at them.
Which means of course, I haven’t hit rock bottom yet. Not when it’s only the first week of spring and the official season of the LWT has several months to go. Rehab can wait.
So, what fashion items are you addicted to and buy over and over?

I have an addict of buying lots and lots of smock tops and tunics especially the ones with a geometrical print.
